Turfway Park
14 oz. tall glass

1-1/8 mile 3yo
The Spiral Stakes was launched at Latonia (now Turfway) Park in Florence KY in 1972 for three-year-olds "spiraling up" to the Blue Grass Stakes and the Kentucky Derby. From 1982 through 1998, series sponsorship was underwritten by Jim Beam, though the glass didn't indicate so until 1983. Serious collectors also include the "Taste Northern Kentucky" Spiral Festival issues from the two prior years. 1999 marked the only year of Gallery Furniture sponsorship, when Mattress Mac (Jim McIngvale) backed out of a 3-year sponsorship contract.
